Ashley Chapman joined the GoEpps team in July 2020. As our senior editor, she delivers clean, accurate, effective marketing content to our clients. We talked with Ashley about her love of writing, music, and what sets GoEpps apart as a marketing agency.

What Did You Enjoy Doing Growing Up?

I grew up in a small, rural town (population under 1,400 people) in Northern Michigan. We lived on a lake in the woods, so my sister and I spent a ton of time outside playing, skiing in the winter, and water sports in the summer. We always had family dogs, so we also spent lots of time outside with them or hanging out as a family indoors. Once my sister and I were in middle school and high school, we started playing music and started our first band. My dad owned a bar, so we started playing there and branched out as we improved.

What Brought You to Nashville?

Music! After living in New York City for three years, I decided to move somewhere that combined city opportunities with small town charm and community. Nashville offered everything I wanted, plus the winters are better than they are in Michigan.

What Is the Most “Nashville” Thing You Do?

I play drums and sing downtown on weekends on Broadway and Printer’s Alley. I go to concerts sometimes, but I typically only splurge when it’s a band I really want to see. The best shows I’ve seen here are Brian Wilson at the Ryman, ELO at Bridgestone Arena, and Tenacious D at Ascend Amphitheater.

What Are Some of Your Passions? What Brings You Joy?

Music, writing, and dog rescue. Music, writing, and the arts, in general, have been with me my whole life. I grew up in a rock ‘n roll household, so I didn’t explore other genres until I was older. I love playing drums, singing, and writing.

Right after I graduated from college, I found my first rescue dog, Scruffles. Scruffles was around ten years old when I found him, and I was fortunate enough to spend the last nine years of his life with him. He made such an impact on my life as I nursed him back to health that I was inspired to help other homeless dogs. I realized how broken the system is when it comes to animal welfare, so I decided to do something about it. I work with local dog rescues in Nashville to help neglected and abused animals, mostly dogs.

I also enjoy traveling to different states and countries. My favorite places so far have been Germany and Maui. I studied abroad in Ireland as a junior in college, and look forward to going back soon.

How Did You Find Your Way into Online Marketing?

I wanted to find something where I could write and edit to make a living. I realized content writing and editing was the way to do so, and it was still immensely creative. After a couple years of writing for another company, I found GoEpps, and it was the perfect fit for numerous reasons.

What Makes the GoEpps Team Unique?

We balance professionalism and a fun vibe really well. There is so much trust between the teammates that we are the most productive team I’ve ever worked with. We are hard workers but enjoy what we do, so it doesn’t feel grueling like it has at other companies.

Company culture starts at the top, and when a CEO knows how to treat their team like adults by giving autonomy, flexibility, and respect, the team will be loyal and hardworking since they know how rare it is to find that mix of benefits. We have that here at GoEpps.

I also appreciate the snack shelf and Michael’s dad jokes.
